What You Should Know About Importing A Car

Purchasing and importing a car from overseas can be a very easy and cost saving experience if you know what you're doing. We at RushCorp.com always strive to provide the best service and the highest quality cars available at prices lower than you can find in your home country.

While our prices may not always be the lowest available, our customers can be assured that they are purchasing a quality vehicle and that all the information we provide about the vehicle is thorough and accurate. This is why we have been the top exporter of second hand Japanese cars and vessels for over 10 years. Our customer base has continuously grown due mainly to word of mouth advertising from satisfied customers.

We recognize that there are other reputable companies providing second hand Japanese cars and vessels to the international market. We encourage these businesses to continue their efforts as good business practices will only help build consumer confidence for overseas purchases. To help you become a better informed buyer, below is some usefule information about buying second hand Japanese cars.

A few points you should know:
  • How are used cars acquired for sale in Japan:
Almost all used cars are sold through Auction. This assures the service history, title, and grade level of the vehicle are all authentic. Japanese auction standards are very high (for example, a car with an auction grade of 4 is in very good condition, having almost no scratches or dings, while a 3.5 auction grade could only have a few very minor dents or scratches). When purchasing a second hand car from Japan, ask if the car you are buying was acquired from an auction and whether the dealer is registered and is a member of the auction services. Not all car vendors meet the standards to become auction members.

  • Cars with Low Prices and Low Mileage:
Although it doesn't happen often, it is possible for a car's odometer to be altered. Since most all used cars in Japan are sold at auction, it is rare for a car's price to be significantly lower than other similar vehicles available at the same time. While prices do fluctuate from week to week depending on the number of vehicles available for a specific make and model, if it looks too good to be true it probably is.

  • Japan's car Maintanence Policy:
Basically, all registered cars are required to go through annual maintanence checks. Cars are inspected carefully and required work must be completed in order to renew registration. (Note that cars not being able to pass inspection generally do not meet the standards required to be sold at auction, and are often sold through private parties.)
